Spring has kicked off with a bang at The Islander Lodge. Wade fishermen have been scoring solid numbers of speckled trout along the edges of the grass flats, with soft plastics and topwater lures producing early in the morning. Redfish are pushing in tight schools along the shorelines, making for exciting sight-casting opportunities. The weather’s been mild and stable, making March a great time to get ahead of the crowds and enjoy excellent fishing. A few guests reported solid action on the reefs just offshore, with slot-sized black drum and sheepshead bending rods around the structure.
