May brought warm temps and hot fishing. The speckled trout bite is peaking, with early mornings yielding limits for wade anglers and boaters alike. Live shrimp under popping corks has been a go-to, but artificials are still producing well. Redfish are cruising the beaches and backwater bays, often in singles or pairs, and are eager to eat. Offshore, the bite has picked up in a big way—guests fishing the rigs and reefs landed red snapper, mangrove snapper, and a few hefty grouper. Night fishing off the dock has been excellent, with non-stop trout action under the lights.
